Network Modernization for Agility and Cost Efficiency
In an industry where speed, quality, and security along complex supply chains are crucial, the demands on the underlying ICT infrastructure are constantly increasing. The shift to cloud-based solutions and the increasing connectivity through digital processes are the benchmark for competitiveness.
As the company expanded and integrated new locations – most recently through the acquisition of Aluflexpack AG – Constantia Flexibles’ existing network infrastructure reached its limits. Different providers, complex contract situations, and expensive MPLS technology led to high costs and hampered transparency, administration, and error analysis. The previous network offered little flexibility for integrating modern cloud services or securely connecting mobile employees based on Zero Trust. At the same time, demands regarding digitalization, automation, and legal regulations such as the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act or ESG criteria continued to grow. The decision to modernize the network aimed to create a futureproof, cost-efficient, and highly available corporate network that enables stable operations for all applications and production processes worldwide. A key aspect was the introduction of an SD-WAN architecture in combination with robust cloud security to elevate both efficiency and security to a new level.

TheSolution
New Standards in Performance and Reliability
The implementation of Deutsche Telekom’s modern SD-WAN solution offered the opportunity to set new benchmarks for reliability and scalability while maximizing availability at production sites. Transforming the infrastructure at nearly 40 locations on all continents required comprehensive ICT expertise and global presence. For this reason, Constantia Flexibles chose Deutsche Telekom as a full-service provider, as well as HPE Aruba for SD-WAN technology and SSE for cloud security. Together, a hybrid network was designed to secure critical production sites through a combination of highly available MPLS and internet connections, while all other branches are integrated via high-performance internet access. Central management is handled via the Aruba Orchestrator, complemented by a SSE solution, resulting in a complete SASE architecture. This combination not only enables maximum flexibility but also ensures the security required for sensitive production and supply processes.
The core of the new infrastructure is the HPE Aruba SD-WAN overlay in combination with a global underlay consisting of MPLS and Internet lines from Deutsche Telekom and its international partners. At all locations, at least two connections, including redundant appliances, were installed – ensuring availability even if individual components fail. The HPE Aruba SD-WAN solution enables flexible bandwidth bundling and proactive error and performance management.

"Our network grows with the company – and creates room for real innovation."
TheResult
Employees in sensitive production and logistics areas can now rely on a highly available and fast data network in their daily work, and securely access applications anywhere at any time. Even during the transition phase, rolling ovens, cutting machines, and coating and laminating machines continued to run smoothly. Downtime or delayed warehouse and logistics coordination due to a network outage? Not an issue!
With the new network infrastructure, all areas of the company benefit from stable and high-performance connections – whether in production, logistics, warehousing, or sales. Error sources are detected early, and the network can be flexibly adapted to new requirements. Centralized control relieves the IT department and provides transparency across all data flows and network situations. Security remains the highest priority: The modern SASE architecture protects sensitive data and meets the highest compliance standards. In addition, the modernization of the network infrastructure marks an important milestone on the road to a digital future. Constantia Flexibles underlines its leading position in high-quality flexible packaging with the full acquisition of Aluflexpack AG in 2025. Thirteen additional locations – mainly in Croatia, Poland, and Turkey – are currently being integrated into the corporate network. As always: seamless, secure, and sustainable with Deutsche Telekom!
